Oh, Baby!!!

Bear & I are not planning on having a baby until at least 2-3 years after we're married. That being said, there are millions of people around me getting pregnant every day. (Ok, I may have exaggerated a little, but it sure feels like it!)

Two of my closest friends in nursing school are both having baby boys and I have the honor of co-hosting a baby shower for them next weekend. It will be my first time hosting, and I love every minute of the planning process!

I sent the e-vites and purchased all of the decor.
Partypail.com has some really, really cute themes for showers at very reasonable prices. The theme we are using includes the images on this post.
(Neither of them read this, so I feel safe posting these pictures)
I've been to a few baby showers before, but I need some input.

-Does anyone have ideas on prize ideas/favors? (Think: limited budget)
-Are there any games that you really loved/disliked at a past baby shower??

Please do share!

  1. Hi!!! I got your comment about the possibility of Paris as your honeymoon destination! How romantic. I have posted a few things that we've planned so far for our upcoming trip here:

Now that tax season is over, I'll be spending my lunch hour scouring over Paris guides and websites, and I'll keep you posted on any new discoveries!

  2. I generally hate shower games, but there is one that I LOVE because it plays off of my competitive nature. It is called the Diaper Pin Game or you can use pink/blue clothes pins.
Everyone gets a pin when they arrive. A secret word like "pregnant" or "baby" is chosen, and if you hear someone say that word you can take their pin. The person with the most pins at the end of the shower gets a prize...a candle or picture frame, something like that :O)

  4. I've never shown a baby shower either, though w tons of my friends getting preggers I'm sure itll be before I know it when I am. However, my blogging partner has done her fair share and shared some tips here. Hope it helps!

  5. I've only been to only one, maybe two, baby showers in my life. The one that I can remember, I was about 6 years old. We played the game where each person tears off what they think is exactly enough toilet paper to fit around the mommy-to-be's waist. I thought it was super fun, but I ended up taking essentially the entire roll because I thought she looked huge. Looking back now, that may have insulted the mommy... not sure. The other game I can remember is each attendee getting a mini diaper pinned to their shirt upon entry into the party. At the end of the party, everyone opened their diaper and whoever had the poopy diaper (mustard smear) won. {Kinda gross though.}

Prize ideas: cute stationery, potted flowers, memory/photo book, chocolate, candles. If you have a local chocolatier you like, chocolate covered oreos would be huge hit! :O)

  7. The last baby shower I went to they played TONS of shower games.

    1. Baby diaper game. The placed different types of baby food, in the baby diapers. (it really looked like feces!) They were all numbered and everyone had to guess what was in each one. Not very class but very funny!

    2. Baby present bingo! On a bingo board you wrote in gifts that you expected the m2b to get. you got to cover the space when the mom opened that particular present. The first person to get a bingo wins!

    3. Baby bottle chug! The first person to finish a bottle of apple juice won. pretty simple, but it was quite humerous

    4. we decorated onesies at one baby shower! Each guest (but you could do groups) brought a plain white onesie in different sizes. At the party were lots of decorations: puffy paint, jewels, markers, etc... Such a cool gift for the baby! I have also seen where the guest were asked to make them prior and bring them in.

Hope these helped. I like showers that don't have a ton of games, and have more social time!

I love babies and hosting parties. My friends really need to start getting prego!

    p.s. new follower!
